Our goal for the climate
We are all impacted by climate change. We want to reduce our emissions by 40% by 2021 compared to 2015. In order to achieve this objective, we have defined a clear roadmap defining the actions to be deployed.
Our animation indicates which areas of activity generate CO2 emissions and the actions we are taking to reduce them.
Preserving the climate in our stores
It is in our warehouses that we deploy a large number of climate conservation actions in our stores, as these have the greatest potential for reducing emissions. For example, photovoltaic panels have been installed on the roofs of many stores. In 2017, we have already produced around 23,000 MWh thanks to its installations, which represents the annual consumption of 5,800 households.
Since 2016, we have been using LED technology exclusively in all of our new stores and refurbished stores. This type of lighting consumes up to 50% less electricity compared to the type of lighting used until now.
For refrigeration and deep freezing, LED technology provides a global solution. It makes it possible to reduce the amount of heat produced, compared to other types of lighting, and thus to consume less electricity. Obviously, in our new stores we only use efficient frozen cabinets equipped with technology to recover the heat produced during cooling. We use this heat to heat stores, which saves us more energy.
Refrigerant gases are at the heart of our climate preservation strategy. They are essential for refrigeration but can cause leaks. This is why we use innovative technologies to reduce their emission into the atmosphere. We are also gradually replacing the refrigerant gases currently used with more climate-friendly alternatives.
Our Goal For Covid-19 The coronavirus pandemic has resulted in supply chain disruptions and shortages of critical medical supplies, equipment, and other needed materials essential in the fight against COVID-19. We helping buyers locate needed supplies
